Here we go again, Lockdown 2

Here we go again, Lockdown 2, I’m not sure if it’s a horror movie or a Whitehall farce, it probably depends on your postcode. So having set up a bunch of pop ups in response to everyone’s desire to eat out, they are now postponed and we’re back on the take away.

Well as long as I’m cooking, I’m happy either way. We’re doing a couple of crackers from previous menus this week, whilst I get my head around some new dishes for the coming weeks.

The frozen dishes are now available to collect Wed - Fri & we can also take your frozen dishes out of the freezer the day before you pick them up to defrost, so you can simply warm them up as normal, if you would like us to do this do just make a note on your order.

Don’t forget about the delivery option if you live in Salisbury or Wilton – Benji can deliver your orders for £4.50 on his Eco Bike meaning your both helping another local business & the environment. Full details are below

If you live outside his delivery area but would like delivery please let us know. Up until now delivery has not been something anyone has asked for, but the new situation might mean that changes for some of you.

Best wishes & many thanks for all your support

BEEF STEW WITH CINNAMON & PRUNES
A wonderful recipe from my old chum Lucas Hollweg and takes me back to the second Chalke Valley History Festival, held at Tommy Hooper’s, Red Ruby beef farm in Ebbesbourne Wake. We set a personal best that weekend serving this dish to 400 happy punters, along with a starter or pudding. We managed to get everything out to everyone in 28 minutes. On top of which, we cooked way too much, so the Salisbury homeless community were very happy the following day.

SWEET POTATO MASH
Any root vegetable mash is really delicious, so it’s difficult to choose. I’m doing this one partly because I like the colour, but mostly because it’s a dream with the beef stew.

SHREDDED SAVOY CABBAGE
Will also go perfectly with beef

SOUTH COAST FISH STEW, SAFFRON, GARLIC, BUTTERBEANS.
in search of a great fish stew. Rose Prices ‘Kitchenella’ has delivered some lovely dishes in the past and hasn’t disappointed this time. I’m using the awesome butterbeans from ‘Brindisa’, imported from Spain, to be honest, they are great just warmed up on their own.

ROASTED ROOT VEGETABLE MADRAS
Another Meera Sodha dish from ‘Fresh India’, it’s got simple Saturday supper written all over it and so that’s what we’re having tonight along with some lemon rice and coriander.

LEMON RICE
This handwritten little recipe comes from Ravinder Bhogal and includes asafoetida, lemon, turmeric, chilli, mustard seed and fresh curry leaves. To go with the Vegetable Madras

APPLE & BLACKBERRY CRUMBLE
This needs no introduction, it does what it says on the tin. Spoon some ice cream on the side.
