The Pop up - Photos and Thank You
A lovely evening was had at St Giles House, Wimborne on Saturday 1st April at the Bread and Flowers pop-up, and we would like to thank everyone who came to enjoy it with us. Even the sunshine came along to support the event, smiling down on guests as they ambled from the walled garden car park over to the magnificence of the house.
Cocktails were in abundance, and I enjoyed showing guests around the house, waxing lyrical about the renovations and the innovations employed. We provided a newly developed, vegan canape for the occasion, pea and mint, with wild garlic pesto and vegan mozzarella, topped with a tiny quenelle of vegan yoghurt, preserved lemon and mint. I need to stop using the term ‘vegan’, the canape was delicious and doesn’t need the prefix.
Eighty guests gathered in the library for dinner as dusk gave way to candlelight and the conversations began to rise, drinks passed round, and food served. If you need a reminder of the menu, have a look here. It was great to see a plethora of old faces and wonderful to meet up with a throng of new ones as I chatted to everyone after the meal. It made a pleasant change for me, to be cooking at that venue, but having a personal relationship with the guests and being able to come out after service and exchange a few stories, and answer many questions about the dishes, their preparation and execution.
We would love to return in November, if we get a gap in our ruthless wedding itinerary, and it would be fabulous to see even more new faces, who knows, we might get the nightclub to open downstairs for a post dinner boogie, although I’m not sure how that would help digestion. A brandy in the Tapestry Room would be a fitting alternative.
