‘Bread and Flowers at Home’
Menu for collection - December 11th 2020
I can't really believe we have been doing the takeaway since March, how time flies when one is cooking new dishes every week. We have really enjoyed feeding you all & trying out some fantastic new dishes as well as introducing you to some of our old favourites. I hope you are all getting geared up for a Happy Christmas in what ever form that is taking for you this year.

New Stockists
We’re very happy to announce that the ‘Bread and Flowers at Home’, frozen range is now available in Downton at ‘Stable and Wick’ and in Wilton at ‘Herbs and Wild’, with other, exciting outlets coming on line over the coming weeks, so spread the word. As places to hang out go, Herbs and Wild over at The Guild is a pretty cool option. They have swopped the groovy stretch tent for a super cool and cosy tepee in the central courtyard and they’ve gone and got themselves a license and a new menu, so see you over there this weekend. Whereas Stable and Wick offer up a breath of fresh air, fresh bread and fresh product and are a welcome relief to the dreadful new Sainsbury’s which has highjacked the newly revamped petrol station forecourt on the main drag.
Pop up
We have postponed our Pop up until things open up & allow more people to mix. At this rate will be will back to March dates, but we are very much crossing all fingers & toes that we will be able to do something later in January! Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive & kept the faith as some of you have hung on in since March.
STUFFED LEMON SOLE, BROWN BREAD CROUTONS, CONFIT LEMON ZEST, CRISPY DEEP FRIED CAPERS, ON PEPERONATA
I thought we would start with this inaugural foray into Tom Kerridge’s, ‘The Hand and Flowers Cookbook’. This is the abridged version of the recipe, suitable for a take away and I’ve added the delicious ‘Peperonata’ from Lucas Hollweg as it works so well with it. We made a little video showing some of the processes involved, which when I can find a passing teenager to help edit it I will upload to the website. You really couldn’t make this recipe up, well Tom did obviously and the world is a better place for it. I tried it last night, always good to get a bit of practice in, it’s utterly, utterly, even though a bit pricy but some things just are. Btw, it’s stuffed with cavalo nero, onion, anchovy and nutmeg. This dish will not freeze so we are going to have to be conservative about how much stock we make so its really worth getting your order in early for this one

GALICIAN STEW
I’m a huge fan of all things Spanish and this classic, one pot dish takes the biscuit on exquisite peasant food. There are versions of this dish all over Spain, this recipe is the Bread and Flowers version.
£6.50
CHICKPEA, SWISS CHARD
I’ve done this before, it’s one of my favourite vegetable dishes from The River Café Cook Book. Simple ingredients, good olive oil, diced seasonal veg, chilli, white wine, an amazing slow cooked tomato & red onion sauce, handfuls of parsley and a slug of lemon juice to lift it up
£6.50
ROAST FIGS AND PLUMS IN VODKA, CASSIS, RED WINE SYRUP, CRÈME FRAICHE
This will definitely warm your spirits, plus it’s a great finisher at this time of year.
