I’ve just taken delivery of an old cookbook, ‘Barrafina’ by Nieves Barragan Mohacho and Sam & Eddie Hart, originally published in 2011. I stumbled on a recipe from it in a magazine a while ago, ‘Arrocina beans with Chorizo, Morcilla and pork belly.’
Read MoreWe’re here at Abbots Court in the middle of their open day and it’s absolutely pretty as a picture and popping with excitement. We arrived early to get the full tour ahead of the punters arriving at 3pm, what a stunning set up.
Read MoreIt’s been a bit of a week to say the least, with a flurry of brides rearranging dates to post June 21, booking in for food tastings and site visits, in short, getting the wheels on the bus moving again. Of course we have to negotiate a minefield of ifs and buts, maybes and possibles before the bus even gets to the end of the drive, but at least there is some hope that we might be back on the open road by the summer.
Read MoreWe’re heading for the first anniversary of our tortured union with the coronavirus. It’s cost us an entire year’s turnover and lost revenue and we’re now eye watering amounts in debt. With lockdown likely to last until pubs and restaurants open

Read MoreMany thanks for all the lovely comments about the turbot dish we did this week, I thought we all deserved a treat and we’ll definitely do it again. Read MoreIt was my birthday last week and I wanted to cook a dish which was cooked regularly in our house when I was growing up, but I hadn’t had for over 40 years. My dad used to cook it and it’s barely a recipe, even so I’ve shied away from making it, just in case it wasn’t as good as his.
Read MoreMy sister still lives up in the North West of England, she’s a carer for the terminally ill, she has been for over 30 years. End of life care, she’s really good at it and has always said how much she enjoys the work, enjoys her charges.

Read MoreCongratulations to Marco Pierre White who opened his ‘Steakhouse, Bar and Grill’ restaurant at ‘The Stones’ hotel out on the Amesbury road recently. I picked up his book ‘Great British Feast’ about ten years ago and was inspired to make some of his classic English dishes.
