Lights, camera, action!
The glamour of the catering industry knows no bounds, which is why we found ourselves on a film shoot yesterday, feeding 30 ravenous crew, the odd actor, a producer, director and runner. Naturally I can’t divulge any information as NDA’s have been signed, but it did involve a girl, a canoe and a river at the back end of Churchfield industrial estate.
I mention this because we cooked the charcoal smoked aubergine curry for them, amongst other things and it reminded me of just how good the dish is. In fact 70% of the punters opted for it and it more than covered the myriad of dietary requirements you could imagine the film industry throwing at us. High fives, high praise and huge thanks all round.
So that’s partly why we’re doing the curry as a take away again this week, it is so good. The other reason is because it took so long to organise the film shoot, a million emails, schedule changes, dietaries, location options, shopping lists, that we ran out of time to test some new dishes. However, fear not, I’m ahead of the game for the following week.
A FEW DETAILS TO NOTE
We supply all dishes as single portions.
FRESH FRIDAY - We are doing the ‘Fresh Friday’ takeaway again this week, see menu below. We will produce a quantity of stock of each dish weekly, so that you can continue to order from the day the menu is published, right through to the Thursday, before pick up on Friday. This assumes we’ve done the numbers perfectly and there’s stock available of course, so bear with us.
FROZEN EVERYDAY - If you would like frozen dishes at any point during the week, you can order & collect pretty much any time Mon – Friday assuming the stock is available on the website. Just give us a call before you place the order so we can arrange a collection time. We are here 90% of the time!
It’s good to know that the frozen dishes are “FRESHLY FROZEN", so cooked then chilled and frozen within 90 minutes. A bit like frozen peas, the frozen dishes are just as fresh as the non-frozen dishes, in fact in some ways they are more so…..
The feedback we got from you all was really helpful, it seems that apart from a few customers who have ordered week in, week out, with-out fail, most of you are just getting back to normal and as such want a more flexible and instant fix when it comes to takeaway food. Hence the addition of the frozen dishes and option to order later in the week. We hope this helps!

CHARCOAL SMOKED AUBERGINE CURRY
I’ve just taken delivery of Meera Sodha’s book ‘Fresh India’, recommended by Hugo Stewart. The book fell open at this recipe, the picture looked totally alluring and the technique, although simple, involves hot charcoal, oil and smoke, so I imagine would put a lot of people off preparing at home. Of course I love faffing around with this kind of detail, so I’m putting it on the menu this week. I’ve tried it and it’s hands down delicious. Also goes well with the rice
