Veganuary - Vegan event and wedding menus are all the rage!
Veganuary is an annual challenge run by a UK nonprofit organisation that promotes and educates about veganism by encouraging people to follow a vegan lifestyle for the month of January.
I started embracing my inner vegan back in October 2022, not long ago. I say, embracing, I called out to him a few times, but the responses were, to be honest, a bit muffled. That was until I discovered Julienne Bruno, and the quest for the holy grail was over.
Now I can’t stop spreading the word about their magnificent products and the integrity of their quest to make plant based the first choice, not the alternative. In their own words ‘WE’RE SHOWING PLANT-BASED IS THE MOST EXCITING AREA IN GASTRONOMY’
Here at Bread and Flowers, we have a couple of staple dishes in our repertoire which feature the indescribably delicious Italian, imported Burrata cheese. A rich, unctuous, cream filled mozzarella, which sits on top of either a ‘caponata’, a Sicilian aubergine, onion, celery and tomato, slightly sweet and sour stew, served at room temperature, or a lovely Isle of Wight, heritage tomato salad, served with marjoram and pesto. The vegan offer, nay alternative, has always been to serve either, without the burrata, in a ‘Hey Presto’ kind of way.
That is no longer the case, as now we can offer a scrumptious ‘Burrella’ from their dairy free cheese range, extraordinarily delicious for anyone, you don’t even have to be vegan, you could be a full-on carnivore and enjoy it. They do a couple of other items, a ‘Cremata’ and a ‘Superstraccia’, the latter is a key ingredient in their featured recipe on their website, ‘Superstraccia, queen butterbeans, verde herb pesto’. We’re definitely filching that recipe for our 2024 wedding menus, I’ve already tried it, it's a keeper.
We’ve also found, from a range of specialist suppliers, excellent vegan butter and parmesan, which has unleashed a stream of vegan risottos, one of my favourite food categories, along with vegan goat cheese, halloumi feta and double cream. Long story short, we now have 16 vegan canapes, 11 mezze dishes, 21 starters, 14 mains, 16 salads, 41 side dishes and a dozen puddings to offer our extended vegan family.
So if you’re planning your vegan, vegetarian, carnivore, omnivore wedding or event, then you need to hook up with Bread and Flowers. We’ll share the joy and share months of painstaking research to make sure not one of your guests are disappointed.
